She knows exactly who those panties belong to—they were purchased from her very own shop! She's beginning to think her life would've been easier if she'd just opened Main Street Books and stayed away from silky underthings. Now her marriage is over and her life is in a tailspin. She's humiliated, upset, and heartbroken, but it's time to move on to the anger stage of grieving. There's no point looking backward when looking forward reminds Carlene that all she needs are the ladies of this small town to rally around and teach her that revenge is a dish best served red-hot.(Previously published as The Red-Hot Chili Cook-Off and A Heap of Texas Trouble.)

Book The Shop on Main Street: A Novel (Cadillac Book 2) Review :

I already read this book under a different title. What the heck? I want my money back.
I usually turn to Carolyn Brown’s books after I finished reading something heavier because they’re usually just light and fun.I am having trouble with this one because of all the in accuracies in the book. For instance, at a couple of points she talks about people getting restraining orders on each other but what follows are all kinds of circumstances that would get someone arrested if they actually had a restraining order on them but nobody gets arrested. In fact there is a sheriff involved in this story and he just laughs at the whole thing. There are several different kinds of legal orders that we can get to keep someone away from us but a restraining order can only be had against somebody you are, or were married to. The types of orders she is talking about would actually be Protection Orders, Anti-harassment order or No contact order. While I understand this is all technical stuff it does make me shake my head when a sheriff is sitting with somebody laughing about somebody doing something for which they should’ve been arrested since they have a “restraining” order against them. Then that same sheriff is at a church where people are committing assault upon each other and again he just laughs it off but it doesn’t matter to me that these people are in their 80s the assault is assault and it’s not at all funny. So it really bothers me that this book takes this area so lightly. And while I don’t think it’s the authors fault there are also a bunch of typos in here which makes it difficult to read. Not my favorite Carolyn Brown book for sure.
